About Xu Beihong Memorial Hall
There are two Xu Beihong Memorial Halls: one is located at No. 53, Xinjiekou North Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, and the other is located in Yixing Yiyuan. Beijing Xu Beihong Memorial Hall was established in 1954. It is the first personal memorial hall for an artist built by the Chinese government on the basis of Xu Beihong's former residence. The original site of the museum is at No. 16 Dongshoulu Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. Premier Zhou Enlai personally wrote a plaque with the name "Beihong's Former Residence". After the "Cultural Revolution" began in 1966, the original memorial hall was demolished. In 1973, Premier Zhou ordered the reconstruction of a new museum. Yixing Xu Beihong Memorial Hall was opened on October 26, 1988.
