About GuanFu museum

GuanFu museum is a non-state-owned museum and the first registered private museum since the founding of the People's Republic of China. It was founded in 1996 by Ma Weidu, a collector of cultural relics. It has a Beijing museum and a Shanghai museum. On January 18, 1997, the Guanfu Museum was officially opened in Beijing and open to the public. Since 2002, the museum has begun to set up branches such as the Hangzhou branch. In 2004, the Guanfu Museum was expanded and a board of directors system was implemented. In 2007, the membership system was opened to the public. In 2010, the Guanfu Cultural Foundation was officially established to raise funds for the Guanfu Museum and ensure its sustainable survival. On November 1, 2016, the Shanghai branch of Guanfu Museum was completed and opened.
