About Urumqi Museum

Urumqi Municipal Museum is located at No. 123, Nanhu South Road, Urumqi, Xinjiang, facing Nanhu Citizen Square and adjacent to the Urumqi Municipal People's Congress and Municipal Government to the north. It covers an area of 11,149 square meters (the shared building of the museum and library). The Urumqi Museum occupies the first, second, sixth and underground floors of the main building, covering an area of approximately 4,381 square meters. The display area is about 3000 square meters. One of the first floors is a special exhibition hall with an area of 726 square meters. In 1990, comprehensive preparations for the basic display of the Urumqi Municipal Museum began. In September 2005, the Urumqi Municipal Museum was completed and opened. As of the end of 2019, the Urumqi Municipal Museum has a collection of 14,177 pieces/set, including 6,319 precious cultural relics/set.
