About Zhang Nanxian's former residence
The former residence of Zhang Nanxian (1874-1968) is located in Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It was the former residence of the democratic revolutionary Mr. Zhang Nan. The former residence is a blue brick bungalow courtyard, which is now an important place to commemorate his revolutionary deeds. Zhang Nanxian devoted himself to the anti-Qing revolution in his early years, participating in science cram schools and Rizhihui activities. In 1907, he was arrested for supporting the Pingliuli Uprising. He later joined the Literary Society and participated in the Wuchang Uprising and the Yangxia Defense War. During the Republic of China, he successively served as Director of Finance of Hubei Province and participated in the preparation of the Hubei Provincial Bank and Wuhan University.
