About Exhibition Hall of the Former Site of the Tianjin Frontline Headquarters during the Battle of Pingjin
The Exhibition Hall of the Tianjin Frontline Command of the Pingjin Campaign is located at No. 4, Yaowangmiao East Street, Yangliuqing Town, Xiqing District. It was originally a courtyard-style private house with a total area of 280 square meters. During the Tianjin Liberation Campaign from December 1948 to January 1949, the Tianjin frontline headquarters of the Pingjin Campaign of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was located here. At 10 a.m. on January 14, 1949, Commander Liu Yalou issued the general offensive order here. After 29 hours of fierce fighting, more than 130,000 enemy defenders were wiped out. On January 15, Tianjin was liberated. In 1962, Hebei Province designated the site as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit; in 1982, the Tianjin Municipal Government re-announced it as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit.
