About Museum of Aquatic Life
The Museum of Aquatic Biology was founded by the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Freshwater Fish Museum of the Natural History Museum of Academia Sinica established in 1930. The museum has a construction area of 5,000 square meters and houses a popular science exhibition "Mysteries of the World of Aquatic Life", displaying specimens of national key protected animals such as spearfish, Chinese sturgeon, and white sturgeon. In March 2022, it was recognized as one of the first batch of national science education bases, with a collection of 400,000 specimens, covering more than 1,000 species of Chinese freshwater fish and fish specimens from 34 countries.
