About Zhangjiawan Museum
Zhangjiawan Museum is located in Zhangjiawan Town, Tongzhou District, Beijing. It is the first town-level comprehensive museum in the country. It was completed and opened in July 2015, with a total area of approximately 2,000 square meters. With the theme of canal culture, red culture and folk culture, the museum has 12 exhibition areas including the preface hall, canal history, and Red Mansion Dream Pursuit. It uses digital projection, virtual roaming and other technological means to enhance the interactive experience. The treasure of the town hall is the carved stone from Cao Xueqin's tomb discovered in 1968 (100cm long, 37.5cm wide). Its excavation triggered academic discussions on Cao Xueqin's burial place in the red academic circles. Open for free every Thursday starting from September 2018, the address is No. 5 Taiyuyuan Middle Road.
