About General Front Committee for the Battle of Crossing the River
The General Front Committee for the Cross-River Campaign was a military command organization established during the Liberation War to unify the command of the Cross-River Campaign. On February 11, 1949, the Central Military Commission decided to consist of five people: Liu Bocheng, Chen Yi, Deng Xiaoping, Su Yu, and Tan Zhenlin. Deng Xiaoping served as secretary and "continued to exercise the authority to lead military and combat operations" during the cross-river operation. The General Front Committee once moved to Sunjiaweizi, Bengbu and other places, and then moved to Yaogang Village in Feidong, Hefei, Anhui Province in early April. In Yaogang, the General Front Committee formulated the programmatic document "Implementation Outline of the Beijing-Shanghai-Hangzhou Campaign" and unified command of the Cross-River Campaign launched on April 20, 1949.
