About Jiaxing Museum

Jiaxing Museum, a national first-class museum, is a comprehensive museum integrating collection, research, display and education. The current building area is 22,000 square meters. It was founded in 1958. The original museum was located at the intersection of Qinjian Road and Hexing Road in the urban area. It was later moved to Haiyantang Road in Nanhu District and opened to the public in October 2003. Starting from October 1, 2004, it is free and open all year round. The Jiaxing Museum has rich collections and a relatively complete structure, reflecting the cultural features of Jiaxing in various periods from different aspects. The two basic displays in the museum, "The Origin of Harvest—Jiaxing in the Prehistoric Period" and "Fertile Land Jiahe—Jiaxing in the Historical Period", sort out the entire development process of Jiaxing.
