About dongba valley
Dongba Valley is located in Baisha Town, Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, about 15 kilometers away from the ancient city of Lijiang. The valley is a fractured valley formed by ancient orogeny, with a total length of 90 kilometers and is dotted with natural landscapes such as Danxia rock walls. As the core area of Dongba culture of the Naxi people, its Dongba script is the only living hieroglyphic script in existence, and the Dongba Sutra written in it is included in the "Memory of the World Heritage List". The valley is home to the Naxi, Lisu, Talius, Pumi, Mosuo, Tibetan and other ethnic minorities, forming an ecological ethnic village with a blend of multiculturalism. Traditional craft displays include textiles and wood carvings, and folk performances include skills such as climbing the knife mountain and licking the tongue with fire.
