About grass island
Grass Island is located at the coastal junction of Qiongshan City and Wenchang City in Hainan Province. It is an island formed after the Qiongzhou Earthquake in the 33rd year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1605). The earthquake caused 72 local villages to subside. Grass Island, Fushuidun Island and Beigang Island remain together. The island is long in shape and covers an area of about 0.0425 square kilometers. It is commonly known as Nose Island because it resembles an elephant trunk. It is located on the northwest side of Pineapple Island in the Mangrove Scenic Area of Dongzhai Port. The island has dense vegetation, seabirds gather, and fish pond breeding areas are scattered around it. Grass Island is an uninhabited island.
