About Shaxi Ancient Town
Shaxi Town, belonging to Jianchuan County in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, is 32 kilometers from the county seat. Located between the three major tourist regions of Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La, it borders Eryuan County to the southeast and is adjacent to Misha, Yangcen, and Diannan in Jianchuan County to the northwest. Shaxi Town covers a total area of 287 square kilometers and administers 14 administrative villages, with a permanent population of 23,743 (as of 2017). The town has successively received prestigious honors such as “Yunnan Provincial Historical and Cultural Famous Town,” “National Historical and Cultural Famous Town,” “Yunnan Tourism Famous Town,” “108 Chinese Village Business Cards,” and “China Rural Cultural Heritage Landmark Village List.” In 2010, the town’s regional gross domestic product reached 84.4 million yuan.
