About Qixi Park

Kunming Pool–Qixi Park is located on Yidou Road in Fengdong New City, Xixian New Area, Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province. Situated between the Feng River and the Yu River, it overlooks the Qinling Mountains to the south and serves as a historical and cultural theme park. Its predecessor, Kunming Pool, was excavated in the third year of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty’s Yuanhu era (120 BCE) and originally functioned as a large artificial lake used for training naval forces, simulating the celestial patterns of the Milky Way, serving as a royal garden for leisurely visits, providing water for the capital city, and supporting fish farming. It was the first artificial water storage project in history and set a precedent for the systematic water supply systems employed in imperial capitals.
