About Tianning Temple

Tianning Temple is located south of Hongmei Park in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, at No. 1 Luohan Road in Tianning District (near Hongmei Road). Founded during the Zhenguan and Yonghui eras of the Tang Dynasty, Tianning Temple was originally known as Guangfu Temple. In the first year of the Zhenghe era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1111), it was renamed to its current name. After 1949, the People’s Government of Changzhou City repeatedly allocated funds for major renovations of Tianning Temple, and in 2023, the renovation and restoration project for the temple’s main gate and the vegetarian dining hall was launched. Tianning Temple is characterized by five major features: a grand hall, a large Buddha statue, a large bell, a large drum, and a large treasure tripod.
