About Tangbla Scenic Area
Tangbara is a collective term for the grassland landscape in the Kashgar River Gorge within Nilerke County, Xinjiang. It derives its name from the Kazakh word “big seal,” as a massive rock formation resembling a jade seal sits along the eastern ridge of a mountain gully, 105 kilometers southeast of the county seat. The core area is Tangbara Grassland, one of the Five Great Grasslands of Ili, stretching along the Kashgar River and featuring 113 gullies and valleys, encompassing natural landscapes such as forests, grasslands, cascading waterfalls, hot springs, and unique peaks and strange rocks—locations that were once used as filming sites for the movie “Red Flowers on Tianshan.” The scenic area includes Tangbara National Forest Park, Mengkete Grassland, Xiaohua Mountain, and other attractions.
