About Residence of Xu Family
Xu Family Courtyard is located in Nongke Village, You’ai Town, Pidu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It was China’s first agritourism resort and was founded in 1986 by villager Xu Jiyuan. Originally consisting of 13 simple, flat-roofed Sichuan-style residential buildings, it underwent four generations of expansion to develop a garden-style landscape featuring blue-tiled houses, antique-style buildings, and modern Chinese-style structures—now comprising three generations of agritourism architecture. Relying on its flower and seedling base, the courtyard has provided dining services for visiting merchants and gradually evolved into a four-star rural hotel. In 1983, Xu Jiyuan became one of the first households in Pidu County to earn over 10,000 yuan through the cultivation of Nan Tian Zhu, and in 1986 he built a new three‑court courtyard to begin welcoming tourists.
