About Daguan Park
Daguang Park is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, founded in the first year of the Hongwu reign during the Ming Dynasty (1368 AD), located on the shores of Dianchi Lake, about 2 kilometers west of Kunming City. In the 35th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1696 AD), Wang Jiwén, the Governor-General of Yunnan, constructed Daguang Tower, which gave rise to the park’s name. Covering an area of over 700 mu, it is the largest park in the urban area. After ticket prices were reduced in January 2019, the park is now open to the public free of charge. During the Qianlong period, the renowned scholar Sun Ruanweng composed a 180-character long couplet, hailed as “the longest couplet in the world,” which is currently hung on both sides of the south gate of Daguang Tower.
