About Tianjin Yihetuan Memorial Hall
The Tianjin Boxer Rebellion Memorial Hall is located in Lu Zutang, Hongqiao District, Tianjin. It is the only special memorial hall in the country that reflects the Boxer Rebellion Movement. Its predecessor was the altar site of Lvzu Temple of the Boxers. It was listed as a cultural relics protection unit in Tianjin in 1962 and upgraded to a national key cultural relics protection unit in 1982. It was planned to be built in 1985 and officially opened on January 1, 1986. Based on the Lu Zutang built in the Ming Dynasty, there are existing buildings such as the mountain gate, front hall, and back hall, covering an area of 1,600 square meters and a construction area of 600 square meters. During the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, Cao Futian, the leader of the Qianzi Rebellion, set up a general altar here to direct the attack on the Zizhulin Concession and other battles.
