About Fengdu Ghost Town

Fengdu Ghost City, formerly known as Fengdu Ghost City, was also known as the "Bazi Biedu" in ancient times. It was established as a county in the second year of Emperor Yongyuan of the Eastern Han Dynasty and has a history of nearly 2,000 years. It is located on the north bank of the Yangtze River in Fengdu County, downstream of Chongqing City, across the river from Fengdu New County, and covers an area of 0.45 square kilometers. In 1958, during the "War on Steel", some cultural relics such as steel statues and bells on the mountain were smashed into scrap metal for "steelmaking". In 1966, the famous mountain cultural relics were destroyed again by the Red Guards and others, and all kinds of statues of gods disappeared. In 1981, a "ghost town" tourist attraction was built in Fengdu, Chongqing.
