About Nine Dragons Screen
The Nine Dragon Wall is located outside the Huangji Gate of the Ningshou Palace District on the East Road of the Forbidden City in Dongcheng District, Beijing. It is a single-sided glazed screen wall built against the palace wall. It was built during the reconstruction of the Ningshou Palace in the 37th year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1772). It was named "Nine Dragon Wall" because there were nine dragons engraved on the screen wall. The Kowloon Wall is 29.4 meters long, 3.5 meters high, and 0.45 meters thick. The upper part of the wall is a verandah-style roof with yellow glazed tiles, and under the eaves are rafters, purlins, and brackets imitating wood structures. The wall is carved with nine dragons and is divided into five spaces. The lower part is a white marble xumizuo, which is dignified and solemn.
