About Round City

Tuancheng is located on the west side of the south gate of Beihai, Xicheng District, Beijing. It was originally a small island in Taiye Pool. It is now a national key cultural relic protection unit (announced by the State Council in 1961). It is open from 09:00-16:00. Its plane is circular, with a circumference of 276 meters, a platform height of 4.6 meters, and an area of about 4,553 square meters. The main building, Chengguang Hall, was formerly the Yitian Hall of the Yuan Dynasty. It was rebuilt and renamed Chengguang Hall in the Ming Dynasty. The Jade Urn Pavilion was added in the Qing Dynasty, forming a symmetrical ancient building complex with yellow tiles and red walls. There are now Yuan Dynasty jade urns, Qing Dynasty white jade Buddhas and 38 ancient trees, including the Jin Dynasty pitch pine "Shade Marquis" and the whitebark pine "White Robe General".
