About Rongtang Village
Rongtang village (English name RongTang village) is an ancient village under the jurisdiction of Shishan Town, Xiuying District, Haikou City, Hainan Province. The village has a history of more than 800 years. There are currently more than 500 people in the village, and only 13 households still live in the old village. The entire village is built of volcanic rock. Village roads, walls, residences and other buildings are all made of unbonded volcanic stone. The ground retains the natural texture formed by the flow of volcanic lava. There are three historical relics including the Taikoo Immortal Gate built in the 30th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1904), the "Enter and Exit Kangqu" gate during the Republic of China, and the simple stone gate built in the Song Dynasty. The village retains the sarcophagus where the couple was buried together in the 11th year of Xianfeng (1861).
