About Jiaocheng Valley Scenic Area
The Calliaphila Valley Scenic Area is located in Dongjia Town, 48 kilometers southwest of Rong County, Zigong City, Sichuan Province. It is a provincial nature reserve approved by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government in October 1986 (named Rong County Golden Flower Callus Nature Reserve). As of the end of 2024, the protected area covers an area of 113.85 hectares. There are more than 20,000 cypress trees, a national first-level protected plant, in the reserve, forming a unique cypress community landscape, and distributed with Cretaceous red sandstone formations, cypress lakes, natural waterfalls and other natural landforms. Because this area has not been affected by Quaternary glaciers, rare plants such as Bald Cedar and Metasequoia are preserved, providing scientific basis for studying the paleogeographic environment.
