About karnak temple
The Temple of Karnak is located on the east bank of the Nile north of Luxor, Egypt, 700 kilometers south of Cairo. It was first built in the Middle Kingdom (about 3,900 years ago). During the New Kingdom, it was expanded and extended to the period of Greek rule, forming the largest temple complex in ancient Egypt covering an area of 24.28 hectares. There are more than 20 temples, 134 giant stone pillars, sphinx ram statues and other relics. The pillar hall of the main hall is 366 meters long and 110 meters wide. The central stone pillar is 21 meters high and 3.57 meters in diameter. The top of the pillar can accommodate nearly a hundred people. As the worship center of the sun god Amun, the temple was once the religious core area of Thebes and was connected to the Luxor Temple in the south through the Sphinx Avenue.
