About Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein), also known as Neuschwanstein Castle, was built in 1868 on the outskirts of Fussen, Bavaria, Germany. It was built under the leadership of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Inspired by Wagner's opera "Swan Rider", the castle is designed with white marble exterior walls and Gothic spires. The interior decoration is mainly based on swan elements. The dome of the Imperial Hall is painted with star images. It is surrounded by mountains and lakes, and the landscapes vary throughout the seasons. The castle was originally the king's private palace, with a total of 360 rooms planned. Due to the sudden death of Ludwig II in 1886, only 14 rooms were completed. Advanced 19th-century technologies such as cement foundations and lightweight limestone cladding were used during the construction process.
