About Italian Barrack
The Italian Barracks is located at No. 20 Guangming Road, Hebei District, Tianjin. It is a single military building in the original Italian Concession. The building was first built in 1924 and completed in 1925. It adopts ancient Roman-style brick and wood structure and has a "Π" (also known as "concave") layout. The total length is 120 meters. The existing four-story main building has a construction area of about 6,400 square meters (other records indicate that it is 4,200 to more than 8,000 square meters). As the only completely preserved foreign military building in the garrison barracks of the nine countries, it has been used by the Italian Marine Corps, the Japanese invaders and the U.S. Marine Corps. The daily garrison size reaches 400 to 500 people. When Puyi lived in Tianjin (1925 to 1931), he visited the military camp many times.
