About Acropolis
The Acropolis of Athens is a ruins of ancient Greek-era buildings located in Athens, Greece, a world cultural heritage. The core area covers an area of 3.04 hectares. The main buildings include the Parthenon, the Acropolis Gate, the Temple of Athena Victory, the Erechtheion, etc. The history of the Acropolis can be traced back to the 16th century BC. During the Archaic period (8th century BC to 5th century BC), with the establishment and spread of the worship of Athena, the patron goddess of ancient Greek city-states, the Acropolis gradually transformed into a religious holy place, and a large number of temples and altars were built. In 480 BC, the Persians occupied Athens and the Parthenon was destroyed in the war. After the war, the Athenians rebuilt the Greek Acropolis under the leadership of Pericles.
