About Beiyuan Mountain Village
Beiyuanshan Village is one of the 40 scenic spots in the Old Summer Palace. It is located east of the Dabei Gate. It was built in the ninth year of Qianlong (1744). It is a cultural relic of the Qing Dynasty and the only remains are now. This scene is built like a farmhouse in a fishing village. The names of the buildings are related to farming. The main building is the Kenongxuan. There are also Huiyu Jingshe and Guanyin Temple distributed on both sides of the river bank. At the southeast water pass, a stone plaque with the words "Beiyuan Mountain Village" written by Emperor Qianlong is embedded. Emperor Qianlong once experienced farming here and wrote the poem "Beiyuan Mountain Village", comparing it to Wang Wei's Wangchuan villa. In 1860, the British and French allied forces did not destroy this place, but it was completely destroyed by war in the 26th year of Guangxu (1900).
