About Buddha Incense Gallery
The Buddhist Incense Pavilion is located on the foundation of the Wanshou Mountain in the Summer Palace in Haidian District, Beijing. It overlooks Kunming Lake and Paiyun Hall in the south, and is adjacent to the Buddhist building "Sea of Wisdom" in the north. It was first built in the 16th year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1751), and was later destroyed by the British and French forces. It was rebuilt in the 20th year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1894). The Foxiang Pavilion is 36 meters high and sits on a 21-meter-high platform. It has three floors, octagonal and four-fold eaves, and a spire. There are eight huge iron pear wood Optimus Pillars in the pavilion, and the internal architectural structure is complex. There is a standing statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with Thousand Arms wrapped in bronze and gold enshrined in the Foxiang Pavilion.
