About silica fossil
Silica fossils, also known as petrified wood, are fossils formed by the replacement of silica in groundwater after trees were quickly buried during the geological period, retaining the original wooden structure and texture. Its colors include earthy yellow, light yellow, off-white, etc., and its texture is hard. Part of it is transformed into opal chalcedony due to high-pressure deterioration, showing a glassy luster, and is called tree jade. Xinjiang is widely distributed in my country. Sichuan Shehong Silicified Wood National Geopark has the largest group of primary petrified wood fossils in southwest China. It was formed in the Late Jurassic 150 million years ago. Dinosaur fossils were discovered in the same strata.
