About Shuangfeng Pavillion
Wuhan Shuangfeng Pavilion is a memorial building located on Lutai Mountain in Huangpi District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It was built in memory of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi, the Neo-Confucianists of the Northern Song Dynasty. It was originally located in the Ercheng Temple. It was moved to the current location in the fifth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1666). The existing building was rebuilt in the 28th year of Daoguang's reign (1848). The pavilion is 10 meters high, made of wood and stone, supported by 12 stone pillars. It has a three-story structure with double eaves and a hexagonal roof. The eaves corners are upturned, and the top is covered with glazed green tiles. The Shuangfeng Pavilion is named after the legend that Cheng's mother dreamed of two phoenixes throwing herself into her arms and giving birth to two sons.
