About Former Sino-Russian Daosheng Bank Building
The original Sino-Russian Daosheng Bank Building is located at No. 121-123 Jiefang North Road, Heping District, Tianjin. Built in 1917, it is a two-story brick and wood structure building with a strong Russian style. The outer eaves wall is made of cement, with coupon-shaped windows, herringbone pediments and curved corners, and a dome on the top. The building was originally the Tianjin branch of the Sino-Russian Daosheng Bank. The bank was founded in 1895 and established a branch in Tianjin in 1896. After the bank collapsed in 1926, the building was sold to the Bank of Communications in 1928. On the eve of the liberation of Tianjin in 1948, it became the seat of the Tianjin Working Committee of the Communist Party of China (known externally as the "Action Committee to Welcome the Liberation of Tianjin").
