About Wulabo Ancient City
The ancient city of Wulabo, also known as "Luntai City", is located on the bank of Wulabo Lake about 10 kilometers southwest of Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is a site from the Tang to Yuan Dynasties. The ancient city of Wulabo is the earliest and best-preserved ancient city discovered in Urumqi. The city site is nearly rectangular in plan, with a length of about 550 meters from north to south, a width of about 450 meters from east to west, and a circumference of about 2,000 meters. Cultural relics from the Liao and Yuan dynasties have been found on the ground inside the city. A large number of dead bones of horses, sheep, camels, etc. are scattered on the surface of the city. There are also cultural relics such as pottery pots, pottery basins, square bricks with lotus patterns, ancient coins and jades, etc.
