About Longhu

Longhu, commonly known as Chenghu, got its name from the fact that Taihao Fuxi, the ancestor of the Chinese people, made Wanqiu his capital and was named the Dragon Master as the official of the dragon. After the Liuhu Lake was dredged in 1996, it was named because Huaiyang was called the Dragon City. Long Lake is 4.4 kilometers wide from east to west, 2.5 kilometers long from north to south, and has an embankment of 14 kilometers. It consists of four parts: East Lake, Liu Lake, Nantan Lake, and Xiange Lake. It covers 11 square kilometers and is commonly known as Long Lake. It is the largest city-encircling lake in inland China. On December 23, 2009, it was approved by the State Forestry Administration and promoted to a national wetland park.
