About Tsinghua Campus
Tsinghua Garden, a royal garden of the Qing Dynasty. It was first built as Xichun Garden in the 46th year of Kangxi (1707). It originally belonged to the third son of the emperor, Yinzhi. It was later taken over by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and expanded during the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods. In the second year of Daoguang (1822), Xichun Garden was divided into east and west gardens. The eastern part was named Hande Garden by Prince Miankai of Dundun (renamed Qinghua Garden during the Xianfeng period), and the western part was named Jinchun Garden by Prince Rui Mianxin. During the Xianfeng period, the eastern part was renamed Qinghua Garden. The existing plaque on the door was inscribed by Emperor Xianfeng, with the words "Qinghua Garden" inscribed by Yehenara Natong. The Gongzi Hall was built in the seventh year of Jiaqing (1802).
