About Shifuling Ancient Road
The Shifuling Ancient Trail is a section of Zhongbei Road of the West Beijing Ancient Trail. It is located in Dongshi Guyan Village, Wangping Town, Mentougou District, Beijing. The ancient trail passes through the village. This section of the ancient road is named after three stone Buddhas engraved on the forehead of the stone inscription on the cliff beside the road. The ancient road was built in the sixth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty with donations raised by the monk Ming'an Zen Master. The road retains clear mule and horse hoof nests and four cliff steles for road construction in the Ming Dynasty. It is one of the best-preserved sections of the ancient road to the west of Beijing. The ancient road winds along the mountainside cliff, with a low protective wall built on the outside. Below it is the Yongding River and the modern door-panel railway.
