About He Family Courtyard
The He Family Courtyard is a complex of Ming and Qing ancient buildings on the east side of Chengnan Street, Qi County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. It was built by the He family, the second richest man in Qi County in the late Qing Dynasty. The main building includes a cantilevered gate tower, a bluestone corridor and two courtyards in the north and south. The south side is a courtyard for carriages and horses, and the north side is a courtyard with ten inner and outer three pairs of entrances. The courtyard is separated by a brick flower fence. The main building is equipped with eaves corridors and carved wooden components. The west side of the tube tower courtyard features arched doors and windows and a single slope roof, and contains a stage.
