About prayer flags
Prayer flags: In terms of their external forms, we can roughly summarize them into three types: one is: blue, white, red, green, and yellow square cloths printed with the Buddha's teachings and patterns of birds and animals, sewn one after another on a long rope, and hung between two mountains. This kind of prayer flags are often found on sparsely populated mountains. The second kind of prayer flag is a narrow strip of cloth three to five meters long. Its color is single, either white or red. The Buddha's teachings are printed on it. One side of the cloth strip is sewn on a thick and long prayer pole and erected in front of the courtyard. Most of these prayer flags are found in the Gongbulin area. The prayer poles erected in the Jokhang Temple Square in Lhasa are of this type, but they are made more delicately.
