About Niukouyu Wetland Park
Niukouyu Wetland Park is a wetland park located in Fangshan District, Beijing. Its predecessor was Niukouyu Reservoir, which was built in 1959 and was used to store industrial and domestic wastewater discharged by Yanshan Petrochemical Company. In 2017, the reservoir was transformed into a wetland park and opened to the public free of charge. The park covers an area of 1.4 square kilometers. It adopts the process of "industrial wastewater treatment and standard discharge + wetland natural ecological restoration" to purify water quality by planting aquatic plants. After the renovation, the ecological environment has been significantly improved, attracting more than 140 species of wild birds to inhabit, and it has become a bird-watching resort and Beijing's ecological environment education base.
