About Zhuque Street
Zhuque Ave. is located in Xi'an City, starting from Mingde Gate in the south to Zhuque Gate in the north. It was called Tianmen Street in the Tang Dynasty and was the north-south central axis of Chang'an City in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The street runs through the whole city along the meridian, dividing the city into the jurisdiction of Wannian County and Chang'an County. It is connected to Chengtianmen Street of the Imperial City to the north and Mingde Gate of Waiguocheng to the south. According to archaeological measurements, the overall width of Zhuque Street is about 130 meters (excluding road ditches). In 2023, a water channel crossing the street and the foundations of five parallel bridges were discovered, confirming that it is the earliest parallel site of five bridges in ancient China.
