About turtle stone
Turtle stone is a flat oval sub-stone that occurs in the Xuzhuang Formation of the Middle Cambrian. It was formed in a coastal and shallow marine environment and is a cake-shaped limestone concretion. It has a hard stone skin on the outside and is named after its turtle-like shape. Turtle stones are individually formed into blocks, with large ones like bowls and small ones like goose eggs; they are mostly khaki in color, but also have various colors such as yellow-green, yellow-brown, brown-red, eggplant purple, etc.; after the belly and back are polished, they show circular silk patterns, and some stones have obvious cores, forming multi-color halo patterns or landscape-like patterns. The color of the stone is generally dark on the outside and light on the inside, sometimes with a pure eggplant purple stone core.
