About Kaixuan Road Elevator

Kaixuan Road Elevator is located at No. 11, Liansheng Lane, Kaixuan Road Community, Nanjimen Street, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It is connected to Chuqimen at the bottom and Jiaochangkou at the top. Construction started in January 1985 and was completed and put into use in March 1986. It is the oldest elevator in Chongqing and the first urban passenger elevator in China. The total investment of the Kaixuan Road Elevator is 1.78 million yuan, covering an area of 452 square meters and a total construction area of 3126 square meters. The elevator shaft is at the south end of the building, and the north end of the building is integrated with the slope. Between the slope and the elevator shaft are offices and residences, and its roof serves as a walking passage between the top of the elevator and the top of the slope.
