About Aeronautical Commission No. 1 Aircraft Factory Site
The former site of the First Aircraft Manufacturing Factory of the Aviation Commission is located in Zhaozong Village, Zhaozong Community, Heilinpu Street Office, Wuhua District, Kunming City. It is now a cultural relic protection unit in Kunming City. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the Aviation Commission consolidated more than 10 aircraft manufacturing plants and repair shops across the country into 4 and moved them to the rear areas. Among them, the former Guangdong Shaoguan Aircraft Manufacturing Factory, which had the strongest technical force and the best equipment, moved to Kunming and changed its name. The factory was built in 1939 and officially put into production in the second half of 1940. The factory has more than 600 employees. The factory area is scattered along the southern foot of Mian Mountain. There is an assembly workshop, three bungalows and offices.
