About Fan Shisheng's former residence
Fan Shisheng's former residence is located next to Honglian Primary School in Wangjiaqiao, northwest Kunming. It was built in 1917 when Fan Shisheng resigned from his post as chief of staff of the Sixth Division of the Yunnan Army stationed in Sichuan and returned to Yunnan at the end of 1916. At that time, he and his colleague Qian Kaijia jointly bought more than 80 acres of land in Wangjiaqiao, the western suburbs of Kunming, and built a house to live in. They farmed the acres and worked on their own. They lived in seclusion here for nearly three years. In 1920, he was transferred to the head of the 16th Regiment of the Jingguo Army stationed in Zhaotong before leaving. The house is a two-story building with civil structure, facing east and west, covering an area of 325 square meters.
