About Qianyuan
Qianyuan is a Qing Dynasty garden located directly south of Siyongzhai in the Changchun Garden of the Old Summer Palace in Beijing. It covers an area of 6,600 square meters. It was built in the seventeenth year of Qianlong (1752). It is imitated from the Jinchun Garden in Guazhou and is a typical representative of the Changchun Garden transplanted from Jiangnan gardens. The palace gate is divided into three roads: the West Chuihua Gate is the land entrance, the North Palace Gate is connected to the waterway, and the South Palace Gate leads directly to Qichun Garden. The core landscape in the garden is the "Green Lotus" Taihu Stone, a relic of Deoksugung Palace in the Southern Song Dynasty. Emperor Qianlong discovered it during his southern tour and transported it to the Qian Garden. He personally inscribed and engraved the name of the stone, and passed it on here many times.
