About Si Yong Zhai
Siyongzhai is a Qing Dynasty cultural site located on the small island west of the Sutra Hall in Changchun Garden, Yuanmingyuan, Beijing. It was built in the twelfth year of Qianlong (1747) with a construction area of 15,000 square meters. It was burned down in 1860. The building complex has been expanded three times to form a north-south composite layout, with a square courtyard in the south and a circular fish pond in the north. On the central axis are the quiet and interesting palace gate, the main hall of Siyongzhai and the mezzanine on the first floor with mountains and lakes. The main hall has an I-shaped structure, with a plaque inscribed with Emperor Qianlong's imperial calligraphy hanging on it. It is equipped with a throne, a bed and a small stage. It once contained the "Reengraved Chunhua Pavilion Tie" and "The Copper Engraving of the Western-style Building".
