About Exhibiting poems and responding to rhymes
Zhanshi Yinglu is an important opera performance venue on the south bank of Houhu in the Qichun Garden of Yuanmingyuan. It was built in the sixth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1801). The main building includes a main hall and a stage. The main hall faces south and has five rooms surrounded by corridors. In front of the hall is a cloister courtyard and a stage is set up in the south. The stage has a ceiling with the words "Qing Le Sheng Ping" on it. As the core place for royal celebrations in the Qing Dynasty, it was the main place where the Empress Dowager watched operas in Qichun Garden. It has hosted many royal festival opera performances, such as the festive drama "Xingyun Jingqing" performed here during the Lantern Festival in the third year of Daoguang's reign (1823).
