About Gao's residence

Gao's residence is located at No. 17, Lane 295, South Street, Jiading Town. It was built in the early years of the Republic of China as a brick-concrete two-story house built by businessman Gao Jieren. It is commonly known as "Gao's house" and "red building". The building combines European architectural forms with traditional Chinese craftsmanship details. In December 2010, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiading District. In 2020, the renovation project received administrative permission. The renovation followed the principle of not changing the original state of the cultural relics, and adopted methods such as protective uncovering of tiles. In 2025, Shanghai Construction Engineering Fifth Construction Group will complete the main renovation and restore its original appearance.
