About man and door
Renhe Gate is an ancient city gate of the Ming Dynasty along the Yangtze River in Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It is a closed gate among the seventeen gates of the "Nine Opens and Eight Closes" in the ancient city of Chongqing. It was built by Dai Ding, the commander of Chongqing Guards, and is located between Taiping Gate and Chuqi Gate. Its name means "peaceful people". The city gate is a circular arch structure, about 3 meters wide. It is closed inside and functions as a drainage facility. Documents from the Qing Dynasty record that the Shenxian Cave ditch in the city leads to the Yangtze River through this. The city gate was built in the Ming Dynasty, and the existing remains of the city wall can be traced back to the Anti-Mongolian period of the Southern Song Dynasty. The drainage system was added in the Qing Dynasty.
