About Chuqimen
Chuqimen was the main south gate of Chongqing City built in the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1368). It was originally named Chuqimen, which means "one who is good at making surprises" in "Sun Tzu", and was later renamed Chuqimen, which means "abundance and prosperity" and "store of rare materials and treasures". The gate has a barbican and faces the Yangtze River to the west. The gate is engraved with the words "Jin Tang Yong Gu" and is an important traffic artery connecting the upper and lower half of Chongqing. Since ancient times, mountainous medicinal materials from southwestern provinces have been collected and distributed here, forming a business pattern of "harvesting strange families, helping medicinal materials, and curing all kinds of diseases". Tributes from the Ming and Qing Dynasties were also transported here.
